Favorite Memory of Mine..

As I was waiting at the dentist this morning, I remember a special memory of my Dad and I that I wanted to share about. It was his second to last hospital visit before he passed away. I was coming up to visit that morning. As I was walking up the nurse was bringing him his breakfast and it seem that they very having dispute, over the nurse making my Dad his coffee. Now those who know my Dad, know he like's his coffee a certain way and he just kept telling her no thank you! Once the nurse left, my Dad whisper to me saying " Could you go downstairs, buy me a cup of coffee and make it the way I like it? Please?" He gave me a cute smile and I just couldn't resist, so off I went and made him his coffee to his liking: 1 part coffee, 2 parts sugar" hahaha. After I returned with his coffee, he had the biggest smile on his face, as you can tell in the picture below.

He wasn't eating the greatest for his nurses and they told him whatever he wanted, they would get it for him, so he would have something in him. All he asked for, was some homemade cookies from me. I stayed up the night before, making him a small batch of of some favorite italian cookies he liked.. By the end of the visit, he was dipping his cookies into his coffee.

It's amazing how certain memories come into your mind, in the oddest places..

Shabby Chic Beach Theme wreath~

Made this wreath for my lovely sister-in-law, Anna. I was going for something shabby chic but "beachy" theme to match their housr decor. I added some shabby chic flowers, that I made out of card stock and vintage books. I also distressed the letter D, to give it a rustic look.

Now, my most favorite thing about the wreath was the shells. We picked them on our 1st beach trip as family, on a late midnight walk with the family.

Another cute DIY project!

~Another DIY project~
I used E-6000 again, since this stuff holds so well & is very sturdy!

I let them sit for 24 hours and then spray painted them white.
With spray painting,, I  suggest to always let whatever you paint to air outside for a few days! It's better being safe, then harmful having those fumes in your house!

You could either use these as candy dish, place to keep your keys; whatever you want!

I hope your enjoying this Saturday is bringing you beautiful weather, like it is in NC!

DIY Pen Holder~

Made with recycled items.

First thing first, make sure you can is cleaned & smells good! I had to soak mine in bleach solution to get rid of it's tuna smell.
All you have to do is hot glue each clothes pin to your can! Super easy & great very to recycle!
I spray painted it white to give it a shabby chic look!
Of course adding a little finishing touch makes it so much cuter!
Thoughts? Please let me know what you think!
Happy recycling!

Vanilla Extract in the making

My adventure in making homemade vanilla extract...

I used 80 proof Vodka
My husband order these vanilla beans off amazon from www.vanillaproductsusa.com.
Half a pound for about $24.00 wasn't too bad of a price in my opinion! If anyone knows another source that you like & is great price, please comment below!

I used quart size mason jars.
You can chop the vanilla beans into 1/2 inch pieces or in half.  Slicing is okay but Ive heard it's waste of time according to this company's vanilla beans interactions, but I like to slice mine.

Now I just have to wait 2 months and I will have tons of vanilla to bake with!

Vanilla Beans!

Recently my husband order me some vanilla beans, so sometime this week I'll be making some more homemade vanilla! It sure isn't like what you buy in the store... it is better than that! Have you ever tried making some vanilla? Please tell me what you think and comment bellow!
Trying to get my blog out there, so lets see some comment love!

Sincerely,
~Sarah~
